Blog prompt No 3
Benjamin Disraeli, (1804 - 1881), a british prime minister once said "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damed lies, and statistics". Statistics are used to bolster a weak argument and can be misleading. In the film, Dr. Tim Ball, Professor John Christy and others have stated with evidence that changes often occur in our climate. I am particularly drawn to the evidence provided of the 14th century 'Ice age' in UK when the Thames river became ice and people could even skate on it. The film also stated times when the temperature were very warm or very cold before this year. I therefore find it difficult to reconcile and attribute the fluctuating differences in our climate to global warming. James Hansen in 1988 began this propaganda on global warming, but has since published other literature to label his 1988 version as 'insensitive'. Yet people like Al Gore and others have made headlines and benefited from this propaganda. Just like the reports on Swine flu, Times newspaper reported on July 17 2009 that "The NHS has been told to plan for a worst-cas scenario of 65,000 swine flu deaths this year" yet there have been 214 reported deaths. Manufacturers of flu jab stand to make large profits from such reports. So also many people have befitted from the proganda on global warming. Governments of respective governments see this as a job creating machinery. I believe most governments including the UK would rather continue to promote the issue of climate change for political change. Leading scientist in the video argued reasonably and used evidence to bach up the arguments that global warming is hardly manmade. From the evidence presented in the film, and and various other events that has occured at various times in the world, I think the issue on global warming is hardly to do with CO2 emmission as we are often told.

Algore Film ( 2007 ). An inconvinient truth
The Ex-US Vice President is supposed to have made a difference to our climate since starting his
campaign on Climate change. Evidence has shown that his campaign has virtually no effect. We read often of continued global warming, so much that the population of our polar beer is ever reducing. The United States still fail to commit itself to reducing the amount of pollution of our dear planet. I think Al-Gore was awarded the noble price because of his fame as ex-vice president of the united state, probably as a compensation for failing to win the presidency against George W. Bush. I conclude therefore that his climate campaign has not convinced major economies to commit to green house gases and to reduce the amount of pollution to our climate. Hence, I am of the opinion he did not deserve the award he received.
